When you cut into it, that special moment will be just as memorable for you as the sweet, gourmet flavors are for your guests. Because a properly coordinated and tastefully baked wedding cake is impossible to forget.

Our cakes are regularly featured in the entertainment world, as a favorite of the major Hollywood studios, as well as in national publications such as People Magazine. Choose The Right Wedding Cake For Your Budget

As weddings evolve into grander, more personalized affairs, budgets have become a growing concern for our wedding customers, so we’ve provided a few tips to design a cake you’ll love at a price point you can feel good about.

Traditional wedding cakes provide the best value at $5-$7 per person, as opposed to a dessert bar, which averages out to $7.50 per person based on the variety of flavors and recipes. For smaller budgets, we suggest a small tiered wedding cake for cutting and photographs, plus additional sheet cakes to feed your guests. Sheet cakes are made of the same ingredients as your centerpiece cake, but they’re not decorated beyond a beautifully simple frosting. They’re kept in the kitchen until cake-serving time, when they’re cut and served alongside your centerpiece cake. Your guests will never know the difference!

A dessert bar is a show-stopper and a crowd-pleaser your guests will love. Everyone, from kids to adults, will enjoy sampling a wide variety of flavors and gourmet sweets, as they share their favorites with friends and go back for more. A feast for the eyes and belly, dessert bars offer something for everyone, pleasing even the pickiest guests. For more information about our dessert bar packages, please see our Dessert Bar Menu.

Design Your Dream Wedding Cake

As the premier caterer for Santa Clarita wedding cakes, we take pride in providing as much education as possible for our brides, so you have the power to design your dream wedding cake without any surprises. Here are a few tips to get you started.

Flavors

When it comes to choosing your flavors, our best tip is: Don’t be shy at your cake tasting!  Taste as many flavors as possible. Time after time, we see the surprised looks on couples’ faces when they fall in love with a flavor they wouldn’t normally have considered. During our complimentary wedding cake consultation, we encourage couples to try multiple flavors, fillings and combinations to make an educated choice. You can even bring a couple friends or family members to make a memorable part of the wedding planning journey.

To see our list of flavors and fillings, please visit our Menu. For some suggestions from our staff, please see our Flavor Recommendations.

Colors

When deciding the colors and overall design of your wedding cake, think of the big picture first. Do you want it to match your theme exactly, or do you have a relaxed, flexible color palette? Consider the level of formality. A black-tie wedding generally calls for a more classic, multi-tiered cake, whereas a quirky backyard wedding might need a custom 3-Dimensional cake that represents the couple. After considering these questions, gather photos and feel free to bring swatches of fabric along for inspiration!

Frosting vs. Fondant

Fondant is a sweet dough-like topping that’s rolled out and layered over the top and sides of your cake on a very thin layer of frosting. The benefit is it’s a nearly flawless decorating medium that looks picture-perfect smooth. However, most people don’t care for the taste or texture of fondant. At Jill’s Cake Creations, you really get the best of both worlds because we’ve perfected our ability to frost cakes with buttercream that’s so smooth it’s often mistaken for fondant. While this may be an “either or” decision at other specialty wedding cake bakeries, here it’s simply a choice of preference.

Flower Textures

If you’re including flowers on your wedding cake, you have several choices: frosting, fondant, or fresh flowers. Handmade fondant flowers are lifelike in appearance and, when the artform is perfected, can be a real show-stopper. Frosting is used to recreate certain types of flowers but not all, and fresh flowers are always a beautiful, delicate option, as well. Your final choice will depend on your preference and budget.

If fresh flowers are used, we take extra measure to ensure the presentation is perfect, such as: using flowers from your florist for an exact match; adding extra frosting to secure the flowers instead of poking the cake with stems; and sending a decorator to deliver and perfect any imperfections.
